I have a cold. I hate colds. And when I take Sudafed, I ramble. So bear with me.
It's been a decade since Robyn had her big worldwide hit "Show Me Love." This is not to be confused with Robin S. who had a hit with Show Me Luv. Two different ladies with a very different style and sound.
Well, Robyn is back! She will have an album out within the next month. I have to admit, I only bought the single from her last album...but it had four remixes (of the same song) so it was like an album...well, sort of. Entertainment Weekly just branded her one of the Ten Most Exciting Artists.
Anyhooo, this mesmerizing video is from her forthcoming CD.
I think the song is haunting. It's also impressive to see an artist sing a sad song with a sad expression. I love Diana Ross and Whitney Houston...but when they sing a sad ballad it's always with an insipid grin. Mariah Carey, never to be out done, can sing something tragic but she looks like her Xanax-Percocet combo just kicked in! Or maybe, her keeper gave her a banana. She likes bananas.
I digress. Back to Robyn. Does Sudafed make you jittery?
So I think this video is cool because if you listen to the lyrics, she says she doesn't look back...yet she's walking backward. So she has no idea where she's going or for that matter how will she know when she's there? It's not until she walks forward that she gets squashed. Perhaps I'm reading too much from the video. But it is artsie and she is Swedish.
Well, it's time for some NyQuil. Goodnight.
