Xanadu, the Extended Version
A place, where nobody dare to go...
We call it Xanadu.

Stand by Your Man
This is from a commercial for Guinness Beer. Sadly, it never made the airwaves on this side of the pond.
It's Smiley!
May 28th was Kylie's 39th birthday. This video is from my favorite Kylie album, Light Years.
Thankfully, it appears Kylie has won her battle with cancer, but should be a reminder to us all, get a check-up!
Today's trivia, who co-wrote this song with Kylie & Guy Chambers???

Cough, cough, boo hoo!
Whenever I get a cold or the flu, I get emotional. I love listening to something really sad. I don't know what it is, but it makes me feel better. So here are a few of my favorite songs to listen to when I'm sick.
The first is Bedshaped by Keane. What an amazing song!
This song, "With this Tear" is probably my favorite song. It was from the second English album by Celine Dion (1992). This video is a little scratchy and is a missing two emotional minutes from the album version. However, it's noteworthy because she still has her original nose.
Notice she doesn't pound her chest in this video.
So, guess who wrote this powerful song for Miss Dion....
Then there's Crash and Burn by Savage Garden.
I love the lyrics.
Sarah McLachlan could sing Happy Birthday and it would tug at my heart. What a voice!
I love the BNLs. This is the song that introduced me to their incredible sound.
The lyrics mean more to me now that I'm more, how shall I say it, "mature?"
The Gin Blossoms had such a unique sound. Definetly one of my favorite bands from the 90s. This is their video for Found out about You.
So what do you listen to when you need a good cry?

What can Freemasons do for you?
I really love some of the great remixes by Freemasons, especially Jackie Moore's 1979 megaclassic "This Time, Baby." It's amazing what a producer can do for a song. Take, for instance, Faith Evans "Mesmerized." The original is incredible.
Now compare to the same song remixed by Freemasons, spun a little faster with a little GMD thrown in for good measure.
Brilliant!

My favorite songs...this week, anyways...
To say I love music is an understatement. I love surfing the net for great (and sometimes the not-so-great) songs and their videos. Three that are hot on this week's obsessive week are:
Mika's "Love Today."
Scissor Sisters' Comfortably Numb
This is the man-band (too old to be a boyband)Take That performing "Patience"
Then there's Australia's Tina Arena's "Now I Can Dance"
My god, it has Charo in it. Is there a word that is two steps beyond campy???
Speaking of campy, here's the Brit Band Steps performing "A Deeper Shade of Blue.
Anyone out there think Faye's hair scene was done without computer enhancing??? (OMG, I know their names. Scary!!)
I close this posting with one of the best campy songs from Swedish group, Alcazar. They did Crying at the Discotheque. Not many songs have deep lines like, "When disco spreads like a bacteria..." Adds a whole new layer of amazement. Watch the girls expressions throughout.
These songs are stuck in my head...listen to them once, they'll be stuck in yours.
Searching for eclectic music videos are a wonderful obsession with me and I'd love to share them with you from time to time.
Cheers,
Scott

Naked?
We are here...we are here!
So, this being my first blog, I figured I would say something profound, perhaps even earth-shattering. Hmmm. Nothing yet. Kinda feels as if one's trying to give birth while only a few months pregnant.
Well, it will come to me.
Well, it will come to me.
