Potato Salad!

My friend, Paul, and I used to watch The Kids in the Hall every Friday night on the CBC. We'd giggle ourselves silly, still do. One of the funniest skits was called "Potato Salad" starring Bruce McCulloch. I came across this video a few weeks ago on one of my favorite websites, Die Diva Die. Oh the memories, they come back like memories.

"Mix, mix. Stir stir, I married young, it's all a blur."

Speaking of Boney M...

Matt loves Boney M. And since we're still in his birthday week, and since we were just talking about them, I thought it would be nice to post one of his favorite Boney M songs.

It was so hard to pick his favorite. He goes on for hours about how he loves their stuff; not just their singing, but their dancing, antics and outfits, too, too!
I think I'm in deep trouble.

Moskau; this must be the week for dancing...

My last couple of posts have been about dancing. I thought we were pretty good. That is until I came across this video. It's another "translated" by the amazing Buffalax, the genius behind Benny Lava. The group, Dschinghis Khan, though singing in Russian, was actually from Germany. I know what you're thinking...they sound a lot like Boney M, they weren't.
Sadly, two of the members of Dschinghis Khan have passed away, so there will be no US reunion tours. At least we have this video to remind us and keep us warm.

"Don't you think I'm cool in tights? 'Cause it's made of yarn and hide. Ho ho ho ho ho!"

As long as I'm perpetuating, I may as well go dancing!

Star in Your Own JibJab! It's Free!
Now that's sassy!

Perpetuating the stereotype

Star in Your Own JibJab! It's Free!
Yesterday was Matt's 40th Birthday. We both had long, rough days. I even got pulled over on my way home from work. But nothing could stop us from celebrating his special day.

We went dancing...we just didn't know there were cameras!

Oh, those stereotypes...

I found this posting on one of my favorite sites, Towleroad. It's about that new couple on Wisteria Lane. I love Desperate Housewives. Has to be one of my favorite shows. I was particularly amused when I watched Susan's "friendly" reaction to learning she has gay neighbors. It made me think of all the stereotypes I hear when people talk to Matt and me about us and "our people." Often, our neighbors compare us to the other gay couple down the street. When we went camping on the neighborhood camping trip, it was if there was a contest to see who would have the better camping gear. (BTW, when I saw camping, I do mean tents and sleeping bags not wigs and heels)
From others, I hear, "Oh, you're a gay couple...wow, two great cooks in the household." Actually, I'm a terrible cook. Matt won't even let me in the kitchen alone for fear of damaging something. I have also heard, "So, you must like musicals..." Actually, I don't. I had never seen The Sound of Music until last year. Neither of us do drag, we don't squeal. We do not refer to each other as "Mary." We actually lead pretty quiet lives. We go to work. We pay taxes. We do yard work (and rarely wear gloves). The people that know us, know we are very down-to-earth. But, it's still surprising to hear the stereotypes.

We hear so many false stereotypes, but as times change, so do the stereotypes. What's your favorite?

Indian Thriller; Girly Man

Just in time for Halloween, Buffalax, the genius who brought us Benny Lava, translated this Indian version of Jacko's Thriller; Girly Man.

"Nippley man I met, he ate my motorboat."
I think the whole thing looks like a Coulter Convention!

Favorite T-Shirt Day

One of my favorite events is Chad Darnell's monthly 12 of 12. Well now, he's come up with an annual event to look forward to...it's called "T-Shirt Appreciation Day." There are guidelines, so check out his site to learn what they are.

The T-Shirt I picked is one I got while we were on a wonderful vacation in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It says "Mangy Moose Saloon." Boo Boo asked to be in the picture, too. How could I refuse? He always makes me laugh.

Boo Boo loves to kiss. He's fascinated with lips.

What's your favorite Halloween movie?

I love scary movies...and as we get closer to Halloween, there are lots of scary movies on TV to watch. I was looking on DirecTV and saw that this was on tonight; "The Lame Duck Omen". It was pretty frightening...and the child that portrait the Anti-Christ had an uncanny semblance to someone...but I don't know "W"ho it would be
Okay, I really found this on dudehisattva

Speaking of scaredy cats...

This weatherman was trying to do his thing..when Mr. Roach had other plans!

It was later determined that Mr. Roach looked amazing similar to Ann Coulter. No wonder this poor fool was so frightened!!!

Eek, it's Ratboy!

Every time I see this, I laugh myself silly

"Do you need help, little man?"

Wanna buy a ghost???

I came across this on OMG. It's from Waverly Films. Very timely, funny and worth a watch.

Happy Halloween!

Just in time for Halloween...

I loved disco. It's a sickness, but I can't help it. We have thousands (really) of albums and CDs, most of them dance music.
I remember this album. For some reason, I didn't buy it.

Um, I didn't know she was such a great dancer.

October's 12 of 12

Wow...it's already the 12th. A day I look forward to, thanks to Chad and his 12 of 12 event.

Matt and I love Japanese Maples. This is a Floating Cloud specimen that we put in our front yard. This picture doesn't do it justice.

Matt and I got a card from my uncle and aunt congratulating us on our 10-year anniversary. I don't know why I was so surprised at the support my family has shown since my mother told them about us. I guess I never gave them a chance.

This is Warren, one of our Bettas. That's right, Warren Betta.

I bought a 15-month calendar that counts down the days that president shrub has left in office. Only 466 days left. He can't do toooo much more harm, can he?

Meet Polly Wog. She has legs. But only the back ones. She can hop, but the landings aren't too smooth.

I got my hair cut today. It was really getting long. I would have to cement it in place to keep it from getting wild.

While getting my hair cut, I listen to my iPod. This is Kylie's new video, 2 Hearts.

This picture is of Lake Washington taken not far from where we live.
I should clarify...the picture was taken...not the lake.

I went to the Seattle Arboretum near our house today. It was a beautiful day. The trees were very cooperative.

They had to put up a fence around the Lakeview Cemetery...(here it comes)...seems a lot of people have been dying to get in! Sorry, I couldn't help it.

This is Mrs. Jab R Jaw. I met her at Seattle's Party @ Display & Costume

The bonus word was orange. So maybe the leaves aren't completely orange...but they're yellow and red...which makes orange.
Thanks. You've been a great audience.

Happy Belated Birthday, Madeline Kahn

I'm normally pretty good with birthdays. But two weeks ago, it would have been Madeline Kahn's 65th. Miss Kahn has to have been one of the funniest people to have ever lived. Her timing was impeccable, her singing incredible, and her expressions hysterical. She was brilliant!

As the Dietrichesque Lili Von Shtupp in Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles
As Elizabeth in Young Frankenstein (who doesn't love the Sweet Mystery of Life scene???)

Showing off her amazing voice in one of the funniest skits from SNL (1976)

Performing "(Not) Getting Married Today" from Sondheim's "Follies"

A funny scene from another Mel Brooks' Classic "High Anxiety"

"Flames" from "Clue"

A scene from her first movie, 1968's "De Duva"

And finally, a scene from my all-time favorite movie, What's Up, Doc?

Though it's been nearly 8 years, we still miss you Madeline...but you left us laughing. Thank you.

What was your favorite Madeline Moment?

WTH - John Daker Remixed

Your favorite?

WTH - It's John Daker!

John Daker had his 15 minutes of fame with this video of "Christ, the Lord has Risen Today"/"That's Amore." Kind of a strange combo, but everyone is entitled to Christ in their own way.

I think the piano player is awesome. Can anyone guess she's a Methodist?
She played for John Daker's sextet. Sounds nasty, but it's not...it's just bad.

Is it me...or does the lady in the mustard top sound like she should be in the Lullaby League.

Benny Lava!

This video is a riot! It's from Bollywood but someone has "translated" it with new English words. The video alone is pretty damn funny...but the translation will leave you speechless!

"Who put the goat in there?"

Darling, I howl

Not so strange really..after all, she was in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

What did she do with the consonants?

Patti LuPone is a modern day goddess. Damn, she can sing, she's funny, and I've even seen her "dance." But, if you've ever heard "I Get a Kick out of Me" from Forbidden Broadway, you'll know Patti has issues with consonants. Matt and I came across this video on youtube and we just had to share it with you.

"Dimmy up widda heed windja nod ebba nad ebba do me!"

I want to dance...

In these times of trouble, it's important that we remember to dance. You don't know how to dance??? Well here, this may help.

Now, you try...

Now that's sexy...

I have no idea why this version never made it in the US...
