I was quite saddened when I heard Benazir Bhutto was assinated. But I knew it wouldn't take long for blame to be placed on Al Qaeda. Looks like Betty Bowers and the Family Circus had the same thought. Too bad Bush isn't worried about the leader of Al Qaeda.
Imagine if president shrub focused on Bin Laden instead of Iraq.
We love Cute with Chris. It's definitely one of the funniest sites on the web. We have even submitted a few of our pets' pix (not that we think our babies are extraordinary or something). Imagine our joy when we saw Kasha's photo as the Christmas pet.
What's that you ask? Who's Kasha? Kasha is our special needs cat. She lives in our bathroom closet in a red basket. She only comes out when the house is very, very quiet. So, I rarely see her. She was in the front window the other night. Lit from behind she was like a silhouette cat with glowing eyes. Chris often adds things to the pet photos, Click here to see Kasha's addition.
This picture of Carmen Electra reminds me of a Bette Midler joke...
Sophie and her friend, Clementine were having tea. Suddenly there's a knock at the door. Sophie opens the door and there's a florist with a dozen roses and a card. The card says, "With love, your boyfriend Ernie.
Sophie exclaims, "You know what this means? I'm gonna be on my back with my legs spread for the next week."
Clementine asks, "why, ain't ya gotta vase?"
I'm still not sure what Carmen is doing there...but at least "she's airing in out."
My favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night." Nothing brings the awe of Christmas quite like this ageless classic. But which is my favorite version? I love Celine's...and this is probably the one I like best.
Josh Groban's is also wonderful.
Martina McBride's a cappella version is magnificent. No reverb either!
That's when the real Christmas Gory began... We left the dogs in the house this morning and gave them Christmas treats. The fight soon broke out. It was Kitty vs Kali with Stoli joining in for good measure. Kali had Kitty by the back. Kitty took off a large chunk of Kali’s ear. I got bit. Blood everywhere! Kali was bleeding so badly we took her to the bathroom and I held her down on the tile for about two hours until the bleeding stopped. We have blood all over the carpet and the walls look like a Jackson Pollock painting. We went through an entire bottle of Quikstop and hydrogen peroxide. We have her locked in the bathroom now.
This has to be one of the most emotional Christmas songs ever...and no one can sing it like Judy.
We love Sarah. (McLachlan NOTBrightman) This song is so beautiful.
I work retail. My life for the last 6 weeks has been exhausting. Sometimes when you're in this field, you can't wait for the holidays to end. Work days are long; days off are rare. It can really be hard to get into the spirit when you are drained. I can fully appreciate this song (just not her hair). Luckily, I have someone who makes me look forward to this magical day.
Can 23 years already have already passed?
It's sad that this song is still so relevant. Why are they still hungry. Feed the world.
Lucille Ball was a comedic genius. But someone should have talked her out of playing the title role in Mame. Here, she sings as if she were Talullah Bankhead gargling.
Matt and I love Miss Eartha Kitt. She performs nearly every year at Seattle's Jazz Alley. She puts on an amazing show! It's general admission so we get their early so we can sit next to the stage. Always a flirt, she finds the most handsome man in the audience to flirt with...last time we saw her, Matt was the target of her attention and affection. A most cordial star, she allows visitors backstage. Hard to believe she's in her 80s.
Though this song has been remade many times over the years, there will only be Eartha's version on my iPod.
As our Christmas soire came to a close, two of our guests, Andy and Claudine, had a lot of wine...and Claudine, well how do I put this, well, um, her Xanax comes from a Pez dispenser. It wasn't safe for them to drive. Heck, it wasn't safe for them to walk! So they stayed the night...singing in our guestroom window. It was creepy in a Christmas way. We caught this one song on video.
Our home is always a place for fun and spontaneous singing. The other night, some friends stopped by for Christmas Carols. Luckily we taped it!
Sadly, our medicine cabinet was emptied and I strained my back lugging out the half-chewed liquor bottles...other than that a good time was had by all. It was a pharmaceutical wonderland.
Chad's 12 of 12 is always so much fun. This is a best-of-2007 edition.
June.I have this mug before me now filled with warm, lovable coffee. I love coffee!!! "This is my coffee mug. We bought this while in Hawaii last summer.Ahhh, coffee! It's how I start each day."
JulyIt's Stoli, the Wonder Dog!!! "Stoli is too cute. Here she sits with a dog biscuit on her paw. She won't eat it until given the okay. I think she's still down in the kitchen waiting for the word."
AugustNot one to stay in the box, I posted a movie of one of our parrots, Boo Boo. He's a talker (sounds like Cousin It) and a very sweet bird. "Boo Boo, our Indian Ringneck tells me a secret."
"The bonus word was orange. So maybe the leaves aren't completely orange...but they're yellow and red...which makes orange."
NovemberAlas,Kali got a hold of Mrs. LaMorte and buried her somewhere in the backyard. I must find her, we miss her pie.
"We invited our neighbor, Mrs LaMorte, over for dinner. She's been dead for several years...but we don't want to tell her...she makes a wonderful apple pie."
DecemberI bet you thought I would post a holiday picture...well you're right, it is a holiday when the plumeria finally blooms! "Plumeria don't really bloom in Seattle do they?Yes...but then again, we live in zonal denial!!!"
This was really hard to do, so many pictures to choose from...but it was fun nonetheless. Thanks Chad!
We love Christmas carols. In fact, they play at our house all year long. Really. But yesterday, we dug a little deeper...and listened to some songs we hadn't heard since at least, um, July. Here's one of our favorites....
I came across this video for the first time this morning. I thought, whoa, the guy is a little over the top...and damn, the guy dancing is just about ready to fly away. It's amazing that this group went on to some monster dance hits. Listen to the song, and see if you can you guess what their big hit was.
It snowed yesterday in Seattle. It was gorgeous. This photo is our cherry tree with a light dusting of snow. However, I live in zonal denial. You see, it is my dream to live in Hawaii. Our house is graced with tropical plants to "prepare us for the day." So while the temperatures danced around the freezing mark outside, inside one of our plumerias began blooming.
