So we got in the Jeep and headed northeast. We went to Index, WA!
I love the mural for the post office in Sultan.

Here we are in Index. The water was sooooo clear.

The mountain peaks actually look painfully sharp! Don't touch them!!!!

Here's the bridge over the Skycomish that took us to Index, a city that sleeps til noon.

A strange custom in Index is lawn rafting. They seem to be having a lot of fun as the drink on their beached rafts. I just don't get it.

Our picture as we giggled at the lawn rafters.

Ooooooo, water!

Water in action!

So this tree dies. A fern moves in. Then a few other ferns crash the party and life begins anew.

This tiny chapel is quite famous. Check it out.

Matt forced me to go to the Reptile Zoo. I didn't want to go...and I have proof.

A last shot of the mountains from where we parked our car at the Reptile Zoo.

What a glorious day!

14 Your thoughts???:
I pass that Reptile Zoo often, but have never braved a trip inside...
Dave, don't do it ... they even have giant bird spiders and millipedes and stuff. I was curled up in a corner crying ...
Ha! "lawn rafters"! I laughed out loud!
Love the water pics. If you have a DSLR you can play with aperature and shutter speeds to get different effects with freeze frame or a difused look.
Those shots of the mountain peaks made me want to shoot a beer commercial... or at least drink one.
So, if no one wanted to go to the Reptile Zoo ... OMG, it's totally like he-said-he-said. I'm not getting in the middle of this, I swear!
Rafting on the lawn? That's crazy! Looks like you guys had a really nice day, thanks for sharing :)
Beautiful scenery, looks like you guys had a great day, thanks for sharing!
Wow, talk about your blue sky and beautiful surroundings! You really treated us this month with the photos! Love the photo of you two together, and that mural on the building wall is fantastic - very clever and funny ;-)
Glad you had such a good 12 of 12, and such good weather! (makes a change from the grey days we both seem to have had, doesn't it?). Thanks for letting me armchair travel a little during my lunchbreak :D
OMg this is such a beautiful place !!! Glad you two had a good day !

WOW - that is one gorgeous place! It doesn't look real. Though I would love to see some giant spiders!
wow! just beautiful.
Thank you for the comment - I always love yours especially, they are very thoughtful, and a step beyond "Great pics, thanks for sharing" (to me, that's the equivalent of the dreaded year book "Have a nice summer".
And feel free to link to me, I'm touched! (OK, gonna have to go to bed now, hard to type, I'm exhausted and just woken from an on-off 2 hour nap at 1am, and oh my world I could fall asleep right now!)
