Back to Work

As my vacation screeches to an abrupt halt, it's time to take a...

Camping in the Hood

It's an annual event, several families from our hood go camping. We stay in the same beautiful spot every year, Fort Ebey's Group Camp Site. It's on a bluff that overlooks Puget Sound. On a clear day (yes, we do get them, we can see Mt. Rainier).
We SO love our neighbors but it seems we don't see them near enough. It seems Matterdays and I spend a lot of time working in our backyard or nesting in our cozy house. So we miss a lot of the daily activities of those we live near. What's most noticeable is the kids and how fast they grow. We constantly find ourselves saying, "I can't believe how much (insert name here) has grown since last year." But we always have a wonderful time, this year was no different...and the photo ops were plentiful!

A view of Mt. Baker from the closest city, Coupeville.

This sign is great if only horses read sideways.

One of the hikes near the site gives this vista.

Lotsa spiderwebs.

Trees

Stoli posing. She's such a camera whore.

The view from our camp site.

The path to Fort Ebey.

Continuing down the path.

Stoli and Kitty at the Fort. When's dinner???

I love Warning Signs!

Tangled trees

The path back to the camp site.

At dusk, the cruise ships sail by. I wonder if Charo is on one of these!

Two Bikes

Stoli and Kitty turn the back of the Jeep into a doghouse.

Stumpy

Stoli and Kitty await the arrival of Kali, the puppy-Goddess of Destruction.

Thistle

Kali arrives with Matterdays. I do my best to wear Kali out so we can sleep that night.

The bluff from below.

The campfire.

It worked, I actually exhausted Kali. We think this is the only picture we have of all three of our dogs!

Our neighbor eating carrots. She is hysterical.

On the drive back, I saw this bee with a machine gun.

The group picture. I love these people!

Bad Idea

One of the Greatest Movie Lines Evah

Leave Sarah Alone!!!!

I am getting pretty tired of everyone making fun at John McSame's choice of VP & running mate.
People are saying she's not experienced enough. WTF? The woman was in the PTA for God's sake. What more experience do you want???

Besides, even though she does not support rights for gays & lesbians, she does have some friends who are that way. What more could we want?

Compare and Contrast

"What Have I Done to Deserve This" was a huge hit for Pet Shop Boys featuring the divine Dusty Springfield. (Dusty was once asked what was her favorite color. She replied, "Vodka.")

Here's a new version of "WHIDtDT" by The West End Girls featuring Magnus Carlsson (from Alcazar fame).

Here's the original...

Your favorite???

A Triple Dose of Dusty

Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien AKA Dusty Springfield was way ahead of her time. An amazing woman with a voice that didn't match what you'd expect. Her life was short but crammed pack with music and rumors.

Truly a voice like no other.

The Closet

This tear jerker from Joe My God

Happy Anniversary

11 years ago, I met the love of my life.

I tried to think of something to say that would express how I feel but couldn't find anything that said it as well as these songs.

I love you, not just for who you are but for who we are.

I SO love this woman...

Hillary gave her speech at the DNC tonight. I found myself cheering her and wishing she were the candidate. I am still supporting Barrack...but I can't help but wonder how things would be different.

I hope Obama mentions something, anything about GLBT in his speech as she did.
I can't wait for Biden, he tear McCain a new asshole...not that he needs another.

Some Early Scooter Pix

I used to model in my day...

It was never runway, which is fine as I tend to like to skip or even sashay. This does not earn you respect while doing runway. My B&Ws were always my favorites to do.

I was signed to do a series of ads for a big desigeners line of Tuxedo. I can't tell you his name but it sounds sort of like Roscar Day La Ranter

One of my personal faves....

I look so mad. Maybe I was hungry!

This Is Where the Fish Live

Here's a montage MST3K's The Touch of Satan.

I don't think the similarity of Grandma looking like Barbara Bush is a coincidence.

These are brilliant!

Happy Birthday Señora Katty Lee Gifford...pero mas agua, por favor!!!

La Señora Kathy Lee Gifford had a birthday yesterday...and had it not been for Donnie, I would have missed it. Miss Gifford's birthday was celebrated throughout her sweatshop, I mean factories, by allowing the kiddies to work a half day, which meant Inez Paramericon got to hand-feed grandpa before he fell back in a stupor/coma.

Such Charisma

It's not often you hear a telephone ringing and toilet flushing in the same song.

It's Madonna's Birthday

And this woman can eat her cake...and his frosting, too.

I have no doubt this woman will be turning heads and shocking us all when she's 70.

Brilliant

This past Tuesday, my Matterdays and I went to a beautiful wedding. It was gorgeous. It was an outdoors wedding...and even though it was getting dark, the light shining from the friends, the family, the parents, and the almost-newlyweds kept the place lit with beaming smiles.

As always, I cried. I cried at this beautiful bride walking down the aisle with her loving and still protective father. I cried as I watched the eyes of one of my dearest friends as she watched her baby girl become a woman. It was beautiful...and yes, I cried.

I cried not just for being allowed to share this blessed event, I cried because the same can't be mine. Though my mother truly loves Matterdays as her own son, others cannot equate our event as an equally special event. It would be worse than New Coke or sitting in a separate section on the bus. It's not even separate but equal...cause it ain't no way close to being equal....and that's just not right. Matt and I will celebrate our 11th-year anniversary in less than two weeks...and I still don't see how our relationship hurts the institution of marriage in others.

Sound Controls Our Thinking

August 12 of 12

OMG, it's already the 12th, a day we get to share a day in our lives with photos. Thanks to Chad for this amazing event!!!

I had a busy day! It started off by going to the koi expert. Our koi have been dying off. We've lost most of them in the last few weeks, so I went to Pan Intercorp in Kenmore. They are THE experts. I brought a water sample and a sick koi. They gave me some advice and some medicine. Will see how that works. I DID NOT take any pictures of the sick koi. It's just tooooooo sad.

On the way back, I stopped and got my oil changed. They have a lounge where you can wait while they work on your car.

I took a stroll through our yard. We have so much in bloom...including:
Gardenias which have overwintered up here in Seattle.

Our stargazers love to show off. They are all over. The pollen coats the dogs...but they smell good (the dogs as well as the stargazers).

One of our best friend's daughter got married. It was a beautiful and wonderfully relaxed, comfortable wedding. It took place at Pickering Farm in Issaquah.

The farm is graced with beautiful trees. This huge willow was magnificent!

The father walks his beautiful daughter down the aisle. As always, I cried.

The groom sees his bride in her dress for the first time.

After the ceremony, the newly weds begin their lives.

It doesn't take long for new brides to get this look. I think they're buying a house in Stepford.

Our friend (the mother of the bride) and the bride show off their shoes. I wonder why both Matt and I wound up with pictures of shoes on both our 12 of 12 posts.

After the ceremony, Matterdays and I took a walk around the grounds.

It was a pesticide free zone! We put our Malathion away.

The sunset was beautiful.

Back at home, I took a picture of Paco the pacu. You might remember him from last August's 12 of 12. HE'S HUGE!!!
