If You're Feeling a Little Peckish

A Toast to My Friends

We love the movie Latter Days. It's a beautiful gay love story. The ending is especially moving and I share it with you. As I look around my life, I have many wonderful things...but more importantly, my life is filled with incredible people, especially my man, my family, and dear friends. And on this Thanksgiving holiday, I am not just thankful, I am in awe for I am truly blessed.

NSFW - "Oh, Excuse Me, Ricky"

I really think this could have been made better if done by the Schoolhouse Rock people. "Interjections, show excitement and emotion!" Or perhaps "Conjunction Junction, what's your function?"

But my question...does it seem as though Ricky doesn't really stop when mom enters the room? And what's up with that Stepford Son expression just before mom pops in?

Crazy Divas

Yesterday, we saw Dorothy Loudon losing her mind. Also from the same Soundheim celebration, was an incredible and wonderfully off-kilter performance from the brilliant Madeline Kahn.

Is It Dorothy Loudon or Am I Losing My Mind?

This morning, I was surfing my fav blogs when I came upon a post on Are You There, Blog? It's Me, Stephen. He did a post of Dorothy Loudon singing "Vodka." It brought back memories of Dorothy singing a brilliant medley from Follies.

There's nothing like watching a grand dame going nuts.

The Stylin' Songs of Pheobe Buffay

I love Lisa Kudrow. I mean Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is sheer brilliance.
I also love her character, Phoebe Buffay, especially when she sings. Here are some of my favorites...
Grandma's Song

Little Black Curly Hair

And last, but not least, it's The Smelly Cat Video. This is the one where Phoebe watches it for the first time but her voice has been dubbed by someone else. Can you guess the voice??? Click here for the answer.

Caption This

From the blog, Sexy People, I bring you Sonia.

Watch what you say...she may be the next governor of Alaska.

Talk about Falling Stars...

On Stirred, Straight Up, with a Twist, there was a post about the incredibly gorgeous Veronica Lake. After stardom, Veronica had a tragic life....and I'm not even going to tell you about the time they found Billie Jean King face down in Veronica Lake.
But nothing was as tragic as her appearance in this car crash movie, Flesh Feast.

It only gets one-and-a-half stars from the IMDB. Yikes.

A Triple Dose of Duncan James

Duncan James (nee Duncan Matthew James Inglis) was part of the Brit Boy Band, Blue. With band mate, Lee Ryan, Blue recorded some great songs. Now that's he's on to a solo career, he's off to a brilliant start...and we share the same birthday!
The beautiful, "Can't Stop a River"

The infectious "Sooner or Later"

And with Keedie, "I Believe My Heart"

Love his voice.

I <3 My iPod.

Here's an iPod meme that I found on The Lisp and The Gospel According to Mikey. Play along if you like.
1. If you played your iTunes Music library from start to finish, non-stop, how long would if play for? 51.2 days. (My 160 gig iPod is nearly full.)

2. If you played you iTunes videos/movies from start to finish, non-stop, how long would it play for? 9.9 days

3. What artist appears the most in your iTunes library? How many files? That would be Diana Ross, 510 times (337 as a solo artist). Kylie comes in at #2 with 280 files.

4. Which word appears the most and how many times, when typed into your iTunes search: Love, Sex, Fuck, Death? Which is the least? Love: 1,904 times, Death: 6 times.

6. Shortest? The robot from Lost in Space saying, “No, Will Robinson.”

7. Right now, which track has the highest Play Count? Need you ask? Comfortably Numb by the Scissor Sisters, 81 times. The top three are all Scissor Sister tunes.

What About Us

Yesterday, I posted "Bozone's video, Better." I also referred to John Barrowman's video "What about Us." In case you haven't seen it, here it is.

I Love You Like Cake

November's 12 of 12

It's the 12th of the month. We all know what that means...
12 of 12. What's 12 of 12, you ask? Duh, it's that Chad Darnell phenomena where people across the world share their day in photos. Check out Chad's site for the rules.

It was a wet day in Seattle (is that redundant?) We have a planter in the front of our house that's not draining. Perhaps we should have gone for a water garden theme.

Our yard is protected by Weimaraner Security.

Here's Wayne Manor. It's sort of like a series of guest houses in the backyard.

At the top of the pond is a cat that oversees all that happens in the pond. Usually we don't see the cat as it hides behind the Japenese maple. But know that the maple is naked, there's the cat.

Ain't this hydrangea purty? Still bloomin'.

Here's Kitty. It'll be her 12th birthday next week. She and Kali got into another fight the other night...so Kitty was kind of laying low today.

We won a major award many years ago. It was a set of lamps that came in a giant wooden crate, marked HIS END UP.

Kali is staring at the toy in my hand. She loves to play catch.

Kali catches her toy. Weimaraners are the second fastest dogs; only grayhounds are faster. Here is a rare photo of Kali catching her toy.

Warmly inside, Schotzie just had his hair done and can't do a thing with it.

"Oops, sorry. I didn't realize you were on the toilet."

One of the things I love about fall is finding the random statues we have around our yard that are hidden by planty-things most of the year,

A very religious statue we call, "Notre Madame du lapin de chocolat"
You may pray to her.

When Your Aunt with the Red Hanky Comes to Visit

I found this at !!omg blog!! As you might guess, the is NSFW...but it is amazing.

Our Love Has Changed. It's Not the Same...Or Is It?

Not that I'm still not upset about California's Prop 8's passage. But I am still happy to see that we continue to make progress.

This morning, I watched this video from Ireland's manband, Boyzone. This singing group, a favorite here in Scootersville, has an openly gay member, Stephen Gately. In this video, each of Boyzoners sings it to a love interest. During Stephen's shots, he sings to his real life "civil partner," Andy.

The video is beautiful, but I kinda got a little verklempt when I saw the scenes with Stephen and Andy. As best I know, this is the first time a major boyband (well, they're big in the UK & EU at least) where one of the openly gay members demonstrates love for a member of the same sex.

I see this as another big step. As I wrote when I first started this blog, there has been a major shift in the general populous' attitude thanks in large part to shows like Will & Grace and Willow & Tara from BtVS, and Torchwood's beautful kiss. People got to see The Gays on TV as normal people...as their neighbors. As major acts such as Christina Aguilera, John Barrowman and Gary Barlow continue to reinforce positive images of members of GLBT community, our acceptance will grow. As these artists continue to show us in romantic situations, our acceptance will accelerate.

Save the video to your iPod by clicking here.

This month is the 75th anniversary of the Marx Bros classic, Duck Soup. Ranked in the AFI's Top 100 movies of all time, this movie gets better with each viewing.

Now we know where the Bush Administration got its inspiration.

Happy Birthday, Parker Posie

Today is Parker Posie's 40th birthday.
This woman is brilliant. One of Christopher Guest's team, she has been in some of my all-time favorite movies, including:
The hunt for Busy Bee from Best in Show.

Her dramatic audition scene from "Waiting for Guffman"

Her singing and dancing audition

Who can forget her perkiness in A Mighty Wind or For Your Consideration?

A Triple Dose of Blancmange

Blacmange was one of my fav 80's bands. Though I don't care for the dessert, I thought the British duo was brilliant. Their video usually had a Middle Eastern flare...and were often disturbing. Especially, Blind Vision - I so love the Jell-o Woman.

That's Love that It Is

And their fabulous remake of ABBA's The Day Before You Came.

I always found his smile somewhat disconcerting.

Yes We Can...BUT No You Can't

We celebrate the announcement of Barack Obama as our president-elect. But before the streamers hit the ground, we read the passage of California's proposition 8.

The most bitter sting came from the news that the group that voted as the largest block to support this ugly discrimination came from African Americans. 70% of blacks who who cast votes in CA voted to write discrimination in their state's constitution.

I don't get it.

How is it you've come so far to knock others down? You've gone from being forced to ride in the back of the bus to having Barack Obama in the driver's seat and yet you won't even let "my kind" on the bus at all?

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." He did not add, "Certain restrictions may apply."

Why is homosexuality is still the last acceptable form of legalized discrimination? Shame on those who have ever faced any form of discrimination for imposing it upon another.

I'm Still Giddy

Goodbye, Yma Sumac

The world lost one of its most incredible voices today.

Yma Sumac, the mysterious Incan princess with the five-octave voice passed away after a long battle with cancer.

This diva, the voice of Xtabuy, could go from a deep gutteral growl to a high-pitched trill so quickly it could give even Mariah whiplash. I love ya Yma. You'll always have a special place on my iPod.

Four More Years?

It's up to YOU!

If only she were from the Philippines, she would be a Manila Folder.

Bet she was popular in high school.
