Bernice Goes to a Pajama Party

I love Designing Women. I came across this snippet and had to share it with y'all.

It's Time for Eartha Kitt

Because I work VERY long days, I often write my posts in advance. Truth be told, most of my December posts were written at the beginning of the month. So it was with sad irony that as I reviewed what I had written for this week, I saw this Eartha Kitt video was due to post. So here it is anyhoo, The Grand Diva singing, "It's My Life" with the Rick Warren Dancers.

Hmmmm, I was surprised the Rick Warren Dancers were even available.

In Mourning

The lights are still dim here in Scootersville as we continue to mourn Eartha Kitt. I searched the web today for some performances of the great diva that I've never seen and found these.

"Let's Do It"

"Do It Again"

With Nat King Cole in 1957, "What's Wrong with Me?"

"I Want to Be Evil" Okay, I've seen this one many times...but thought you might enjoy.

Goodbye Eartha Kitt. You Will Be Missed.

Eartha Kitt passed away today.
Having seen her perform and even met Eartha several times, I can honestly and sadly say, there will never be another like her. One of the most gracious stars I've ever gotten the opportunity to meet. When she would perform at Seattle's Jazz Alley, she would always meet fans after the show in her dressing room. She would chat and sign autographs. The last time we went to see her, we were in the front row. Eartha spent much of the night flirting with Matt. She even looked at me, smiled and asked Matt who was this apple tart he had with him tonight. She was amazing.
I remember my grandparents loving this song, "An Old Fashioned Millionaire."

Her first hit was "Usku Dara", over half a century ago.

"Her big 80's GMD hit, "Where Is My Man?"

Ironically, having passed way on Christmas, the song many know her for is "Santa Baby".

This will be a blue Christmas without her. Rest in Peace Eartha. We loved you and will miss you.

David Sedaris' Six to Eight Black Men

David Sedaris is brilliant! Whether is be reading his Sanataland Diaries or telling you about his Stadium Pal. None of these prepared me for this story about Six to Eight Black Men.

Part Two
Part Three
Though tomorrow is David Sedaris' birthday. Let's celebrate today, shall we?

Wain Dwops on Woses

I remember that this is the year Andy Williams bought Claudine a Xanax Pex dispenser....and what's up with her hilarious head twitching at the beginning? Who knew Miss Longet had turrets?

Peace Train

Now This Should Be a Christmas Song!

It would make better sense than "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things."

David Sedaris' Santaland Diaries

For those of you who have never heard David Sedaris' brilliant reading of his Santaland Diaries, I have found the link from NPR. This is one of the funniest things I've ever encountered.

There's nothing like hearing David Sedaris channeling Billie Holiday to sing Away in a Manger. No wonder this is the second most requested segment in NPR's broadcasting history. Brillaint.

6- Pack Tagged!

TJB from Stirred, Straight Up, with a Twist tagged me.

The hateful Mr. Peenee has, in a shocking display of Yuletide malice, tagged TJB's blog who who smacked me. The rules are as follows:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

All right, here goes. Six random things about Scooter:
*Met the love of my life on the internet after nearly a year of exchanging emails before we finally met in person.
*Am obsessed with music, with over 18,300 (really) songs on my iPod.
*Hate the taste of liquor or the smell of cigarettes.
*LOVE ANIMALS. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 14 finches, a canary, 6 parrots (including a blue & gold macaw), a koi pond, 2 aquariums (cichlids in one, butterfly koi in the other), 5 bettas, 10 turtles, 2 axolotls and a chinchilla.
*I used to model tuxedos.
*Went 10 years without calling in sick for work.

And now, the evil continues. I tag: Matterdays, The Lisp, Big Daddy, RAD, Misster Kitty, and Mikey. Damn, Mean Dirty Pirate & Stephen Radar , you were already tagged!

Anagram This

Big Daddy had a fun post called "Anagram This". It's about a site that generates anagrams. One of his anagrams was "Dig by Dad."
I decided to see what fun I could have anagramming "Scootersville". My favorites were:
* Ice Lovers Lost
* To Slice Lovers
* Volt Loses Rice
* Lost Love Cries
....and my personal favorite, Sit Closer Love.

Anagram your site and post your best as a comment here.

Honey, Can We Get One?

Rob from Seduced by the New posted a story about this adorable giraffe, Margaret. Born premature she's only 5' tall. Look at those eyes....how can we say "no?"
If we get her now, she'll be perfect for putting the star on top our Christmas tree next year.

More Christmas with Judy

The Dusty Towne's Sexy Holiday Special

Before Cookie Fleck (from Best in Show), Sheila Albertson (from Waiting for Guffman), Mickey Crabbe (from A Mighty Wind), Sally (from Nightmare before Christmas), Delia (from Beetle Juice), and countless other brilliantly off kilter characters, Catherine O'Hara was Dusty Towne on SCTV. Here is her delightfully disturbing Dusty Towne's Sexy Holiday Special.

Satan Baby

Santa, Satan...it's all the same. There are no more Eartha Kitt versions of Santa Baby left on YouTube. We'll have to settle for Kylie.

Straight No Chaser's The 12 Days of Christmas

Matterdays introduced me to Straight No Chaser last year. I love this group. Check it out.

December's 12 of 12

Yesterday was the 12th. That when we celebrate Chad Darnell's 12 of 12, where bloggers all over the world share their day with pictures. For more details and to send healing prayers, visit Chad's site.

I work retail. So it's up at 4 am for a little yummy coffee. When I die, I shall be embalmed with coffee.

The only critters stirring when I get up are the fish and Charlie, the chinchilla.
This is Warren, one of our Siamese fighting fish. His partner, Mo, is a pacifist.

We finally got our tree. The animals seem to leave it alone while it's wrapped up...plus it sheds less.

I have a pretty long commute but it's quite pretty. I never forget how gorgeous it is up here so my commute is never boring.
The view coming into Seattle.

A view of I-5 heading north at rush hour.

The Space Needle is always wearing a festive dress this time of year.

The dogs are all at the back door waiting, wanting, begging to come inside.

Boo Boo is excited. So excited, he's not talking...but he is staring at something.

Now I know what Boo Boo is staring at...we are going to a potluck party tomorrow and we said we'd bring a main course.

My Christmas present to me from me...a record player that records to my computer. I've spent the last couple of days downloading records to my iPod. I'm already up to the B's, specifically "Basil."

The dogs come inside and Stoli sits on her perch.

Time for bed. Hunter is using the computer (he loves Misster Kitty's Internal Voice)...so I sneak up behind him to kiss him good night.

If you haven't tried a 12 of 12, you have a month to get ready.

Dina Martina for the Holidays

Nothing says Christmas quite like Dina Martina. She's a Seattle holiday tradition!
With Santa hat, jolly attire, muff, and camel toe, she's a tour de farce.

Her Christmas CD is divine. Though she's never done videos for the album, someone has placed two of the songs on line.
Angels We Have Heard on High
Away in a Manger
I know, I know, this last number isn't really a Christmas song per se...but as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "A foolish consistancy is the hobgoblin of a little mind."

(Now really, when was the last time you read a post with both Emerson and camel toe discussed?)

Early Memories

To Live

Yesterday, December 10th, was Emily Dickinson's birthday. I would not have known this had Garrison Keillor not reminded me on the Writer's Almanac. On nights when I work the dreaded closing shift, I get to listen to this show on NPR. Yesterday's show caught my full attention, when Garrison read this piece by Emily Dickson.

"To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else"
.
True.

Mom?

Comes with a lemon wedge for extra freshness.

Who Here Makes Sense...and Who Has Their Had up Their Ass Blowing Bubbles?

I found this on Are You There, Blog, It's Me Stephen. I soooooo love Jon Stewart, especially when he makes people like the Archbishop of Fakeabee squirm.

The Bette Davis Christmas Album

Okay, it's not really Bette Davis...but then who is?

December, a Wonderful Month for Witches

Who would have thought December would be the birth month of three of my favorite screen witches.
Dec 6th; Four-time Oscar-nominated Agnes Moorehead.

Dec 9th; Delightfully green, Margaret Hamilton

And Dec 28th, Goddess and Dame Maggie Smith (6 Oscar nominations & 2 wins)

Happy Birthdays!

I had some fun with Photoshp today.

Better be careful, I remember what happened to Flo.

Barenaked for the Holidays

Kylie's BoomBox

Kylie has a remix album out next week and her x2008 tour will be released on DVD in the UK. Sadly, the DVD won't be available in our format...yet.

This first video is from the tour. The second is an AWESOME HQ Ellectrika's reconstruction video of the projection playing behind her. Found this on zephyr-files.

Damn!

HOT!
...Still waiting for her World Tour to come to Seattle.

For J*O*E

I was reading The Notorious J*O*E today and I came across this post. It reminded me of this sketch from The Kids in the Hall.

It's True

Happy Birthday Jaye P Morgan!

Jaye P Morgan was half the reason I watched that trainwreck TV program, The Gong Show. This woman always made me laugh...so far ahead of her time. Heck she is ahead of time itself! And here's proof!

But it was this bit that truly raised my admiration for Miss Morgan. Honesty took her places...that and a lack of gag reflexes.

It is her 76th birthday...for anyone keeping score.

A Great Idea for Christmas

Whatever happened to Mrs. Miller????
