Beautiful

I saw this the other day on Mark's Planet. The song is great...and I've played it over and over. But today, while waiting for my iPod to restore (grrrrrr), I actually watched the video. It was so sad...and it made me think about how we interact with others...and how sometimes we all need to reach out and say, "Hello. You Matter."

Thanks for the reminder Mark.

You Gotta Hand It to Her...

Thanks to ThisBoyElroy for posting this.

No worries, she can always go to a Second Hand Store.

At last, We Know Why Dick Was in a Wheelchair!

At first I thought it was some sort of hommage to Dr, Strangelove.
Nope.
It seems there was another unrelated reason.

OH DAMN! The video's been removed. Okay, so I'll tell you what was in the video...
It showed Dick without his shoes. He had no feet, just hooves like the devil. I know it would have been funnier to see the video than read about it. But I am sure you'll see it at sometime. Perhaps National Geographics will air it.

I Didn't Evolve from You

I just love Jan Hooks, especially as Tina in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

M M M My Poker Face

Hands down my favorite song (and video)...this week.

The Inaugural Limerick

How did I miss this?

Matt Alber...WOW!

Matterdays introduced me to an amazing song the other night. It was one of those songs that's so beautiful that it haunts you. It was by the incredibly talented Matt Alber. If you're not familiar with him, watch these videos. I have no doubt you'll be jumping over to iTunes to buy his CD. It's sublime.
End of the World

Monarch

Singing like an angel"But Who May Abide" from Handel's "The Messiah"

His music is like a masterpiece painting for the ears.

Happy Birthday, Donna Reed

Today would have been Doona's 88th birthday. We love "It's a Wonderful Life." Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart were perfectly cast as George and Mary. This scene is truly cinematic magic.

Votre favori ?

Aretha's Hat vs. Dick Cheney's Hat

A lot of people are making fun of Aretha'a big-ass hat.

But few people have commented on the hat worn by Dick Cheney.

Oh No They Didn't...

From failblog...

Happy Birthday, Ellen!

Today is the eternally young Ellen DeGeneres' 51st birthday. Rather than sing Happy Birthday, let's have Kristin Chenoweth sing for Ellen from her Hoo Hoo.

I loved Ellen as Dori in Finding Nemo.

Here's the brilliant scene where Ellen comes out to Susan...

Ellen is, after all, the one who finally proved...We not only recruit, we get exciting prizes when we recruit.

Speaking of Liza...

I loved the movie Arthur, especially this scene where Arthur (played by Dudley Moore) is forced to marry Susan.

"Arthur? Will you take my hand? ...."

What Where You Doing During the Inauguration?

Maybe now ex-prez shrub will find out how his book ends. Thanks God for all the pictures and large print, or he would have never have gotten this far.

Dan, you are a genius, sir!

Losing My Mind

Take away my gay card...but this is the only Liza Minnelli CD I own...it helps that is was produced and featured Pet Shop Boys.

I think he was just being kind.

Missing D:Ream

Irish band D:ream made one of my favorite discs, D:Ream On Volume 1.
Fronted by Peter Cunnah, they were big in the UK and Ireland but never received the airplay they deserved in the U.S.

Thought for the Day

Mark posted this. It's my new mantra.

I knew I loved Dr. Seuss for more than The Lorax.

And on the Third Day...

Farting Friday

Sometimes nature is a gas.

Uhm, don't worry Farting Friday will not be a reoccurring event.

WTF?

Found this absurdity on Fey Friends.

I can't tell what it is.

Who's in Control?

So VP Biden made his first official gaffe (today)...and President Obama was quick to react. Watch this video where Mr. Biden takes a jab at Chief Justice Roberts. Watch the expression on President Obama's face. More importantly, watch as Mr. Obama grabs Mr. Biden's elbow. We now truly have a president who's in charge and not a VP running the show from his undisclosed location.

Lovin' this prez all the more.

Why We Don't Lift Weights on Film

I think it's kinda sweet that the poor little twink calls his mom for help. Maybe she can find Nemo.

Rumor Has It...

So what did ex-prez shrub do when he got back to Texas?
Well, rumor has it he bought this.

No word on if he was able to assemble the puzzle or if just swallowed them whole.

Answer Me This

I cannot explain the joy I felt as our new president was sworn in. There is a wave of exaltation that seems to have swept the entire country. So my question for you is this...

Are you more excited that Barack Obama is president?

Or that shrub is finally out?

Only one answer, please.

Since We Have a New First Lady...

"...a low stinking tide."

Dear President shrub

shrub...this one's for you.

Goooooooooooooooooooood riddance!

Happy Birthday, Dolly!

Remember this Disco Dolly ditty?

Nothing like an 80's music video cat fight to celebrate a true diva's birthday!

Happy Bird Day, I Mean Birthday, Tippi!

She's 79...as the crow flies.

Damn Fad

Matterdays told me about this site called obamicon.me where one can become an Obama poster.
Here are my submissions...

And lastly, president shrub...
Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Happy Birthday, Eartha

Today would have been Miss Kitt's birthday. These videos are from her appearance on a Nat King Cole special from half a century ago.

Divine!

And Now, Ladies and Gentlemen...Miss Pia Zadora

Not many dance songs take place in the ladies' room...I wonder why she never made it big.

Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain

Amélie has to be one of my top 5 fav films. If you've never seen this masterpiece, stop what you are doing and go buy it! Watch it five times and you'll find something new, something brilliant each time. Nominated for 5 Oscars and 13 Césars (winning 4, including Best Picture), it has also been voted one of the 50 best films of all time by IMDB. It's guaranteed to make you chortle.

There is an English trailer but it takes away some of the beautiful malevolence that is Amélie.

The Sassy Man from Atlantis

I used to have a crush on the Man from Atlantis. Was it his dreamy eyes? His buff chest? Those tight yellow shorts? Or was it the brilliant acting?

Sassy!

Straight as a Boomerang

The only thing that could make these boys any gayer would be a cameo from Judy Garland with a silly hat.

I love the wishbone ending.

Now you know.

W's Future

I know what you're thinking. What will become of W after he's no longer president? What will he do? Well, I looked into Scooter's Wayforward Machine and I found this video of him.

Crazy Family, Oh Yes, ON NO!

I found this fun little dance ditty from long ago. Jock Hattle's voice didn't match the image I had in my head...and what's up with the serape???

I guess video killed a few radio stars.

And then the Acid Kicked In....

What the hell???

Happy New Year....Says You!

Last night, to celebrate the coming of the new year...and life in general, Matterdays took me to a live taping of one of our favorite radio shows. (That's right, we are NPR junkies) We went to lovely Town Hall for a taping of the hysterical Says You.

Says You is a game of words and whimsy, bluff and bluster.
This is the second time we've seen this very funny show and we had a blast! The cast is absolutely brilliant.
We soooooooooooo love Miss Carolyn Faye Fox. (She's the one in the yellow with the Double Chocolate Peppermint Bark) She makes us smile so hard that our cheeks hurt. What a great way to end the year! And since we were in the third row, you're sure to hear my Tallulah laugh!!!
