Road Trip

Matt & I took a road trip to Mount Rainier today. I wanted to show him Ipsut Creek, a beautiful spot I went camping a few years back. The road to Ipsut was washed away by a storm. So we enjoyed the scenery of the Carbon River instead. The river is fed by glaciers so it has a milky color.



We took a hike along this beautiful path that meandered into the foothills.


I was taking a picture of this odd foot path...



...when suddenly...

We ignored this photo hog...and went on our way.

Such a lovely day, in spite of the huge grizzly squirrels.

Stupid or Oblivious?

As you may well know, Seattle has been enjoying quite the heatwave. Well, most of us have been enjoying it...at least those of us who have AC. But the heat also makes people stupid.

Matt and I went to a nursery today and on our way out, we could help but notice this SUV...with a dog inside. And though the windows were slightly cracked, the car was parked in full midday sun and the temperature was into the 90s and this poor dog was panting!

I went back inside and had a cashier page for the owner. We waited to see what would come out.

A few minutes later, out walked these idiots. They were completely nonchalant about the fact that it was a hot day and that they could have killed their pet. They even said, "We had the air conditioner on before we parked the car." Matt asked, "Is it on now?" "No...but we were only planning on being here for 10 minutes or so."

My first job was as a veterinarian's assistant. Dogs cannot perspire as people do and can quickly succumb to heat. It is so sad to see how many dogs died because of their owner's lack of concern by leaving their pet in a car. These idiots defended their decision by saying "Our dog loves us...look how happy he is to see us"

After our rant, all I could say was, "You sit in that car for 10 minutes in the hot sun. Shame on you." Of course, I had to take their picture.
