A Toast on this Wonderful Day.
If youe've seen the movie Latter Days, then you'll remember the beautiful toast made by Jacqueline Bisset. The comments by Steve Sandvoss at the end were truly moving.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving friends.

November's 12 of 12
Thursday was the 12th of the month. That is when we celebrate Chad Darnell's 12 of 12, where bloggers all over the world celebrate and share their day with pictures.
I know, I know. I take a lot of pictures throughout the year of our koi pond...but I think it's such a striking feature and as the plants around are constantly changing, I think it deserves to make it into this month's post. Look how much it changed from last month!

As I was on the balcony taking the picture of the pond, Kali beckons from below. "Please come throw something, dad! I'll fetch"

Halloween is never officially over at our house. We do the all-out haunted house! It's pretty cool. This just came in the mail. It was too late for Halloween...but not too late to hide in the fridge for an unsuspecting Matterdays.

The skeleton flamingos are still outside. I think they're still appropriate for November, don't you?

Our tree in the front yard dumped all its leaves on Tuesday. The noise was frightening.

This leaf was suspended in a web.

Driving to work, I got a picture of the fog in Madison Valley.

I have such a beautiful commute to work.

The sun rising from the Ship Canal Bridge.

Suddenly, it got dark. I took this picture when I got home. It's the Halloween lights in front of our house. I jiggled the camera for a cool effect.
This month, I leave you with a bonus picture...
That was my day. Did you share yours? If not...mark your calendar now for December 12th. And please, give Chad credit when you join the fun.

Referendum 71 Passes, That Another Step Forward

This is the first time in the history of the US that a measure ensuring equality to gay, lesbian and transgender citizens have been put before voters on a state level and WON!
The following is from the Washington Secretary of State's Blogs.
R-71: Effective 12-3-09
by David Ammons November 6th, 2009
Media outlets have declared Referendum 71 approved by voters, describing it as the country’s first voter-ratified gay-rights measure. As of Friday afternoon, the measure had an approval margin of nearly 71,000, or about 5 percentage points — 754,180 to 683,320. King County, which accounts for nearly a third of the electorate, was giving the measure an approval margin of over 150,000. King’s approval rate has been running 68 percent, and a number of the ballots remaining to be counted are from that county.
The referendum, placed on the ballot by foes of expanded rights for state-registered domestic partners, has been on hold since it was passed by the Legislature earlier this year. If the vote holds, Senate Bill 5688 will go into effect Dec. 3. The election returns will be certified by Secretary of State Sam Reed and Gov. Chris Gregoire, probably on Dec. 1, but under provisions of the Constitution, a bill referred to voters and approved takes effect 30 days after Election Day, or Dec. 3 in this case.
