Yesterday was the 12th of the month; a day we celebrate Chad Darnell's 12 of 12, when bloggers all over the world celebrate and share their day with pictures. All pictures were taken yesterday.

I have been a bad, bad blogger...and an even worse 12 of 12er. (It's been 6 months since my last post). I've been working some horrible hours in not so great working conditions. But at least I have a job and a wonderful home and partner to come home to. Yesterday was the 12th. And once again, I was so busy that I forgot. It was a rough day. The power went out at work for nearly an hour. There's little that can describe the look of crazed shoppers still doing there thing in a big-box store that's nearly completely dark. Kind of reminded me of Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

After another 11-hour day, I came home tired and drained. That's when I saw the roses waiting for me. I felt renewed. And when Matt came down the stairs to greet me I fell in love just a little bit more.

I know this is not what is meant be a 12 of 12. I realized they are supposed to be different pictures. But this situation begs the exception. I know you will all forgive me.

I am so blessed.

My day began, as so many do, looking over to Kali, the goddess of destruction and bed-hog. She kicked Matt out before 4am. She let me sleep until 8 and then...it was time to play. "Throw the toy, throw the toy, throw the toy..." This goes on all day...every day.

I am a coffee addict. I admit it. This day, I did not have any coffee. Only four cappuccinos.

I went out to the garden. It is a stunning day. Old One-Eye hides behind our lemon bush. Yes, lemons do grow in Seattle.

Our peonies are in full bloom.

"Throw the toy. Throw the toy. Throw the toy."

Stoli has truly mastered the art of looking cute.

Don't know why, but I feel sleepy.

Today is Doris Day's Birthday. Born Doris Mary Ann Von Kapplehoff, she shortend her name...Thank God! Rock Hudson called her Eunice but she now goes by the name Clara Kappelhoff.

Though a brilliant comedienne, she was an incredible singer. Mostly known for her happy, quirky songs, this woman could do a ballad like no one else.

BTW, Never, never get a massage from Doris when she's mad!

The woman was truly funny and her voice was like honey.

A few of my favorite pranks...
*Duct tape the bottom of people's drawers at work.
*Put a little Scotch tape under the ball of a mouse.
*A little Scotch tape over the earpiece on a co-worker's phone makes it so they can barely hear.
*Exchange the "1", "2" and "3" keys and the "7", "8" and "9" keys on a keyboard. This is especially funny with hunt-and-peck typists.
*While a co-worker is at lunch, go to their PC and open Word. Change their name in the Auto-correct feature so that it misspells their name. Make the change in their name similar so they don't catch it right away.
*Hang a sign in front of the speaker at a drive-through ordering station that says, "SPEAKER BROKEN. PLEASE SPEAK LOUDLY AND SLOWLY."

Spring has come early to Seattle. There has been no snow this winter...in fact, we've only had a few days where the temperatures have dropped below freezing. Cherry trees began blooming in January.

Working in retail can be a lot of fun...but at the holidays, it can be very dark and draining. I don't so much mind the hours...it's what happens to people that I hate. The holidays bring out the worst in some. So many have lost the reason behind the season. It's stunning to watch people fight over the last of an item...and sadder yet is hearing that someone took something from another person's cart.

We get chastised because we don't have enough of a particular item, as if we had a crystal ball to see what would sell well. Did you know most Christmas items are ordered almost a year in advance? We get yelled at because there are lines. I have even had a customer complain because we were playing Whitney Houston. One several occasions, I've been royally chewed out because we're not playing any Hanukkah music. My only reply is, "We probably would, but Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Neil Diamond, and Barry Manilow have only record Christmas albums."

So, it's really hard to get that Christmas spirit. The only thing that keeps me sane this time of year is coming home to a warm home, beautifully decorated, with all our happy "kids", and falling deeply into the eyes of the man I love. That's where I find Christmas.

We ran some errands. It was very cold but clear day here in Seattle. This photo was taken from I5 on the Ship Canal Bridge. The mountains were gorgeous.

We went to Archie McPhee's, a fun little store.

I saw this hat...but did not get it.

Back at home, I checked on our koi pond. The water coming from Gamera, our turtle statue, had frozen a few days ago. Each day this upside down diagonal icicle grows. Amazing thing is that this natural ice sculpture is hollow and the water is still flowing inside.

We went to a party where they had vintage Christmas specials projected on the walls. This one was a reminder of just how un-PC the world was. I won't tell you what they were doing. You can guess and I will tell you if you are right.

There was a photo booth at the party. They made us get our pictures taken!!!
